s|ice: New Year

Naomi and I took a 10 day trip to the east coast to visit friends and family and rest over the holidays... and that we did. Some of the highlights were going to NYC to see Blue Man Group with my siblings, a improv open mic jam session featuring Bowman, a visit to the Brasilia Grill in NJ, some four-wheeler action and frisbee golf action as well. Things are changing back in PA... or at least my preception of things... friends, family, church and my involvment and interaction with them.

I've been thinking about sanctification lately... want to assemble a book sometime [long term goal] about it with some authors of old and a dash of my own thoughts and musings. One thing I've been rattling around my head is the concept of different levels of sancification. The first being that of the will towards obedience and the latter an actual change of heart. A speaker I was listening to glanced over a version of that thought saying that in spiritual currency there is a range from bondage [negative] to obedience [even] to freedom [positive] and that most Christians stop at obedience even though they are pissy that they have to "do" or "be" such and such... but Christ has come to set us free in that we not only overcome bondage but that we rejoice in the will and heart of God as we mortify our fleshly desires and have them transformed into Spirit-breathed life.

One thing is for sure... obedience, while nessicarry and a stepping stone of faith, becomes boring. Kind of like the differenence between knowing about God and actually knowing Him, which we get confused, whether out of ignorance or denial, all the time.

we are bored with all the things we know
we are so in love with ourselves
do you know what you are
we are forms of all the things we love

The Lord is the strength of His people;
He is a stronghold of salvation for His anointed.
Save Your people,
bless Your possession,
shepherd them, and carry them forever.

I really want to see the Blue Man Group sometime. You went to NYC? It was great to see you all as well, way too short of a time my friend. How were the cheese steaks?
