s|ice: Geocaching

I got some money for Christmas and had some thoughts as to how to put it to use. Most of those went astray after Adam mentioned geocaching. Geocaching is a hide and seek adventure... a treasure hunt of sorts in which you use a GPS unit to locate caches in areas all over the country [and world.] The caches usually consist of a log book as to who has found the hide and also random small items in which you take and leave... a trading post if you will. There are also variants of the cache such as multi cache [in which you have to figure out a puzzle to go to the other site and find the cache], web cache [where you have to go to a certain web camera and have a buddy at home take a picture of you on the site], and virtual cache [you go to the site - find out some type of information and send it into the owner to claim the find].
James and I took the afternoon to seek and find some caches. Foster joined us for a few. We found four of the six... and once the snow melts the other two will be ours. We stopped by rocket donuts and boundary bay to replenish our Lewis and Clarke skills. We dealt with aspects of patience and frustration and tried dealing with the mind set that not everybody would hide things in the places we think they should be. The GPS unit is a must but if definitely doesn't always take you right to where the cache is. It's more about the journey and the finding then it is about what you find... I'm sure bragging rights will eventually take place as well. There is even some lingo to the whole thing [which I'm learning]. I'm looking forward to hiding some caches as well. So now my hobbies are music, frisbee golf, and geocaching.
